Profile of the school
- Mathakondapalli Model School is established as a model school in the year 1999 with an aim of supporting students, teaching fraternity, schools, educational research and communities with quality education.
- To provide inclusive quality education to the children both from underprivileged and privileged communities the school believes that education is the birth right of any child.
- The school gives due importance, that the teachers receive high quality training on how to impart child centered and context oriented Otherwise, society’s message to students would be to aim for academic adequacy, not life excellence.
- The school is involved in review and research for excellence in education to strive for richer curriculum and curriculum delivery based on the varying learning styles and modes, needs of every individual student, the realisation of each student’s ability and the development and nurturing of capabilities.
Years of Excellence
- The dimensions of our teaching learning process: Experiential learning used in MMS has four elements (1) concrete experiences followed by (2) observation and experiences followed by (3) forming abstract followed by (4) testing in new situation. In the primary section most of the lessons taught to the children using this approach extensively.
- MMS follows a process in improving the professionalism at every stage and we see the teachers as a lifelong learner. The teachers are given regular in service training thrice in an academic year and number of on the job training to each individual teacher. The teachers are appraised once in year to understand the level of professionalism achieved by his/her.
- From the year 1999 continuous and comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is followed by MMS where children are assessed at regular intervals with well-defined criteria and indicators. The school follows formative assessment for understand and identifying the rate of learning, diagnostic assessment for identifying the difficulties/problems in learning and the summative assessment for measuring the learning that is taken place.
- Child friendly MMS campus:
Child friendly classroom: A minimum of 1200sft for 30 children in a classroom with a verandas, where children can move around , with child friendly individual tables and chairs and community classroom properties like learning materials, stationary.
- Each class has different corners focusing the needs of every single child,-Library, work station, display board, storing place.
- The classroom facilities are space, the furniture, the learning materials, the child protection policy, sanctions and privileges. The child development programmes designed by the school are favorable and fosters the child development.
- Every class has only 30 children and the overall teacher’s students ration is 1:10
- Extending professional support to other educational institutions:
Besides , developing models for promoting quality education, the school is supporting the other education institutions including government schools in terms of enhancing the capacity of the staff in different aspects like curriculum enrichment, developing curriculum approach, teaching learning process ,preparation of competency based and child centered learning materials, understanding and managing students behavior, lesson preparation and lesson delivery, integrated teaching and learning, teachers performance assessment and appraisal, setting up teacher development goal, school skill mapping ,developing system and policies for school, pastoral care etc.
